<p>034Motorsport’s engineers spent extensive effort to develop a complete cold air intake solution for the latest RS3 that yields horsepower and torque gains over the well-designed factory airbox. During the development process, many iterations were designed, prototyped, and tested, which resulted in this beautifully-manufactured Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake System.</p>

<h3>MAXIMIZING AIRFLOW</h3>
<p>034Motorsport engineers first created a CFD-optimized carbon fiber intake tube, which is a direct, high-performance replacement for the plastic factory accordion hose. Using CAD software and 3D scanning technology, 034Motorsport was able to optimize the cross-sectional area of the intake tube while being mindful of space constraints. The resulting part is a functional work of art &#8211; maximizing performance given the factory space constraints and featuring smooth transitions that ensure optimal airflow to the turbo inlet.</p>

<h3>MINIMIZING INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE</h3>
<p>To ensure that the 034Motorsport X34 Open-Top Cold Air Intake System draws in cool, dense air, the system includes a carbon fiber heat shield to replace the upper airbox as well as a stainless steel heat shield to block heat from saturating the intake tube. The upper carbon fiber heat shield bolts to the factory lower airbox, allowing the high-flow conical filter to breathe cold air from the factory inlet duct before the radiator. The stainless steel heat shield bolts to the stock intake tube mounting point and to the back of the head, preventing the high temperatures from the exhaust header and turbo from radiating directly at the intake tube. Both heat shields work together to minimize pre-turbo intake air temperature.</p>

<p>APR’s Supercharger Drive and Crank Pulley Upgrades dramatically increase horsepower and torque by increasing the rotational speed of the factory supercharger. APR’s Stage II Pulley ECU Upgrade makes the necessary engine management adjustments to handle the increased supercharger speeds, and in turn allows the engine to create more power. The pulleys are sold separately, allowing for multiple levels of performance, each of which builds upon the other. Finally, when combined with APR’s<a href="https://www.clptuning.co.uk//product/apr-3-0-tfsi-ultracharger-system/"> Ultracharger Throttle Body Upgrade</a> in a dual pulley setup, the system is alleviated of power robbing inlet restrictions, allowing the engine to achieve exciting new levels of performance!</p>
<p>APR has chosen not to cut any corners and as such each APR Supercharger Pulley Upgrade Kit includes a new supercharger belt. Furthermore, all existing APR Stage I ECU Upgrade customers are entitled to a free APR Stage II+ ECU Upgrade required for proper functionality. Finally, every APR Pulley is E-Coated black for an OEM appearance.</p>
<p>Important Notes:<br />
* Please check your original supercharger pulley. This will only suit the &#8216;Slip On&#8217; supercharger pulley type.<br />
* If your car has the &#8216;Bolt On&#8217; supercharger pulley, This item is not compatible.</p>
<p>Upgrading both the supercharger drive and crank pulleys results in the factory supercharger spinning ~26.4% faster than stock. This speed was chosen after extensive engine and chassis dyno testing with various pulley sizes and supercharger speeds. The result is an even higher horsepower and torque gain across the entire RPM range. The Stage I ECU Upgrade is required to purchase the Stage II ECU Upgrade.</p>

<p>The APR Carbon Fiber Intake System is an attractive high performance upgrade for the latest 1.8T and 2.0T engines as found in various MQB platform vehicles.</p>
<p>The factory intake design has the foundation for excellent performance, but much of this is sacrificed in an effort to meet other design requirements. With requirements set forth for only supporting factory power output levels, low engine sound levels and long service intervals, there is plenty of room for improvement.</p>
<p>The APR Carbon Fiber Intake System increases performance primarily by improving mass airflow through the system while still proving adequate filtration. Expect greater horsepower and torque through the power band with a more direct and responsive feel upon pressing the throttle. Sounds from the engine and turbocharger are enhanced and some may even experience better fuel economy depending on driving style.</p>
<p>Uncommon to most in the market today, APR spared no expenses during the research and development period. For the better part of a year, APR’s Mechanical Engineers created several prototype intake designs utilizing our in house Sterolithography 3D printer and other rapid prototyping techniques. Various filter mediums were tested in conjunction with the new intake designs through simulated models, flow bench analysis, dyno data collection and in real world applications all in an effort to derive the best possible solution.</p>
<p>We highly recommend the addition of the stealth coolant pipe as the standard pipe will sit across the top of of your brand new high gloss carbon intake, ruining the aesthetic value!</p>
